The Beginning of a Home Farmer

The Beginning of a Home Farmer

I've always had a dream to live on an orchard or own a farm. So, with all these cooking I've been doing and the increase in prices of things in the supermarket, I've decided to start my dream small by growing some vegetables and herbs on my home balcony.

I've been reading on container gardening on the Internet of late and found some pretty interesting tips and inspiration.

I must say, it wasn't easy to grow my little garden. My first attempt at growing tomatoes failed, and my second was successful. But I went away on a long holiday and they were not doing too well by the time I got home. So I got started on third round a month back and here it is today:

While the tomato journey had its ups and downs, I've had more luck with my sweet basil. I bought a small plant from Cold Storage in early August and today, it looks like this:
They smell really good when I water them in the mornings and I've noticed that the more I pluck them leaves, the more the plant branches :)
